California recall election could cost the state $300 million

After Governor Gavin Newsom survived the recall attempt, state legislators have said that the failed effort at removing Newsom as Governor was too costly and needs further review
Lawmakers in California agreed to spend a minimum of $276 million in the most recent state budget in order to cover recall costs but many elections officials have estimated that cost is closer to $300 million
Assemblyman Marc Berman has said, “That money could be spent on housing, on homelessness, on combating climate change, forest fires, early childhood education, you name it,”

According to a new ranking by the Money magazine, the city of Rocklin in Placer County was ranked #43 on the annual list of high-performance schools and quality of life for 2021
Over the last 10 years, the magazine reported that the city of Rocklin’s population has increased over 20%
The magazine evaluated cities that had low crime risk, a diverse population between 25,000 and 500,000 people, and an affordable cost of living

For Michelin’s 2021 California guide, 8 restaurants have been selected and 5 of which come from San Diego County
The 5 San Diego restaurants are: Callie, Menya Ultra, Fort Oak, Little Frenchie, and Animae
The 3 other restaurants come from Orange County which are: Knife Pleat, Heritage Barbecue, and Khan Saab

A mountain town in Northern California has been heavily impacted by the Dixie Wildfire which has taken most of the town’s dry vegetation
This 3 week-old wildfire has been the state’s largest and has burned over 435 square miles and burned dozens of homes

On August 4, Michelin’s California recommendations list has added 10 new restaurants throughout the Bay Area
The first 5 new restaurants are: Rêve Bistro in Lafayette, Aurum in Los Altos, North Block in Napa, Horn Barbecue in Oakland, and Ettan in Palo Alto,
The other 5 are: Marlena in San Francisco, Routier in San Francisco, 3rd cousin in San Francisco, Top Hatters Kitchen in San Leandro, and Khom Loi in Sebastopol
