Outrage begun by California school calling Florida and Texas “idiots” in student test

• A social science teacher at Whitney High School in Rocklin, CA, i being investigated after students were asked a politically biased question on a test
• The test question read, “A group of complete idiots is:” with the answers being: a)KKK, b) “All of Florida”, c) Fox News, d) Texans
• A student posted the image on twitter where it received a lot of attention with hundreds of commenters outraged 

Recent survey shows number of homeless tents in Sacramento have doubled since 2019

• Since the last time officials conducted a homeless census in the beginning of 2019, the number of tents across Sacramento County has doubled 
• In January of 2019, researched estimated that there were 5,570 homeless people living in the county in tents, vehicles, and shelters
• A research team from CSU conducted a surrey that indicated the number of tents had increased by double at least with 10,000

COVID rate in California is twice that of Florida

• The Coronavirus rate in California is double that levels of Florida, despite all the mask mandates and recommendations that the state has to prevent the spread of the virus
• According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cases in California are no longer declining and the rate is increasing rapidly
• The vaccination rate in California is 62% but has higher COVID transmission rates than Texas at 54% and Florida at 60%

California group asks SD County Judge to stop state mask mandate for schools

• An Advocacy group that represents parents against the mask mandates in school plead to a judge in a North County courtroom on November 8
• In the courtroom, the group asked the judge to stop the state from enforcing the mask mandate for kids 

Grocery shopper stabbed by security guard over face masks, says Santa Monica Police

• According to California police, a security guard stabbed a shopper at Vons in Santa Monica after a fight broke out over the man’s refusal to wear a face mask
• The man entered the store without a mask on November 8 around 10:30pm and “started to cause a scene” when employees urged him to wear a mask or leave, the police said in a news release
• The guard pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the man repeatedly, police said.

• After Governor Gavin Newsom survived the recall attempt, state legislators have said that the failed effort at removing Newsom as Governor was too costly and needs further review
• Lawmakers in California agreed to spend a minimum of $276 million in the most recent state budget in order to cover recall costs but many elections officials have estimated that cost is closer to $300 million
• Assemblyman Marc Berman has said, “That money could be spent on housing, on homelessness, on combating climate change, forest fires, early childhood education, you name it,”

Additional Placer County city ranked in best places to live in America in 2021

• According to a new ranking by the Money magazine, the city of Rocklin in Placer County was ranked #43 on the annual list of high-performance schools and quality of life for 2021
• Over the last 10 years, the magazine reported that the city of Rocklin’s population has increased over 20%
• The magazine evaluated cities that had low crime risk, a diverse population between 25,000 and 500,000 people, and an affordable cost of living

• For Michelin’s 2021 California guide, 8 restaurants have been selected and 5 of which come from San Diego County
• The 5 San Diego restaurants are: Callie, Menya Ultra, Fort Oak, Little Frenchie, and Animae 
• The 3 other restaurants come from Orange County which are: Knife Pleat, Heritage Barbecue, and Khan Saab

• On the night of November 3, a man that allegedly stole an 18-wheeler led police from Ventura County on a slow speed pursuit that lasted for hours through the Los Angeles area
• According to a news report, the rig was taken from a lot of a distribution company in Bell, California around 8 pm
• The rig eventually came to a stop 12 hours later on the southbound 55 Freeway near Dyer Road in Orange County

Heroic man sacrifices himself in zip line fall to save a woman in San Diego County

• On November 1, a 35-year-old man named Joaquin Romero died after falling from a zip line in the Pauma Valley area in north San Diego County after sacrificing himself to save a woman
• The man was an employee at La Jolla Zip Zoom Zipline and was working on the “receiving platform” where he was helping a woman unhook before she slid out on the line and brought him with her
• Romero feared the woman could fall because of his weight on the line, so he let go and fell 70 feet to the ground where he suffered critical injuries
• He eventually died two days later after being airlifted to a hospital
• The woman was eventually rescued and suffered no injuries

Agriculture exports from California delayed due to supply chain issues

• Farmers throughout California state report that they currently have no way to export their crops as the global supply chain issues have resulted in shipping containers stuck off the Southern California Coast
• According to the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the state is the nation’s only supplier of tree nuts which are mostly sold to other countries which total for more than $8.1 billion in exports

California children ages 5 to 11 start to receive COVID-19 vaccines

• On November 3, the first COVID-19 vaccinations have been given to children ages 5 to 11 as health officials launched a rollout of shots to 3.5 million California kids
• This move comes after the US CDC recommended that more than 28 million children within this age demographic get vaccinated on November 2

Prosecutor refuses to charge California teen for shooting death at Halloween party

• According to prosecutors on November 3, a teenager was arrested in connection with a shooting that ended with the death of a man and the injury of 3 others
• The 19-year-old boy named Benjamin Calderon allegedly got into a fight with others at a Halloween party on Saturday night through Sunday morning

California hiker falls to her death at Mori Point in Pacifica

• According to reports, a woman fell 50 feet to her death on Sunday morning while hiking a Mori Point, in Pacifica
• After rescuers found her at the beach, she was pronounced dead at the scene
