• The Diamond valley Lake was built 25 years ago and spans 2 miles wide and 4 ⅕ miles long with 800,000 acre feet of water
• The reservoir is one of the largest in California and SoCal needs as a result of the large water shortage in state

• In total, California state has collected $5 billion from aiding in rent relief to combat the homelessness issue  
• The funds for Federal aid have been slowly distributed to residents and through May 31, California has seen $490 million in requests for rental payment assistance but so far, only $32 million of that has been paid

• Latinos have also made up 50% of deaths and received only about 20% of the vaccines so far 
• The Black community makes up 6% of the state’s residents and has nearly 7% of the cases, 5% of the deaths, and only 3% has received the vaccine

• Senate Democrats aim to advance the For the People Act, a sweeping elections reform bill that will influence registration, voting, campaign finance and congressional redistricting
• The Senate Rules Committee held a hearing on the legislation, during which Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called it necessary to combat restrictive voting laws and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell cast it as a power grab

• Covid-19 booster shots will be free to the public if they are needed to control the ongoing pandemic, David Kessler, chief science officer of the White House Covid-19 response team, told U.S. lawmakers Tuesday
