Residential/Business solar power fees in Alabama causes federal lawsuit

  • Homeowners and Environmental groups in Alabama have filed a federal lawsuit against the state regulators for approving Alabama’s Solar Power fees on customers who have on-site or rooftop solar
  • Alabama Power argues that the fees are needed to maintain the infrastructure that provides backup power to customers who don’t have sufficient power from  their solar panels

Texas Republicans demand that Democrat legislators return to Austin for new voting restrictions

  • Democrats from the Texas legislature who have left to Washington, D.C. in order to block new election laws have been demanded by the Texas GOP  to return to the Capitol
  • The governor of Texas, Greg Abbot has authorized law enforcement to bring more than 50 legislators “under warrant of arrest if necessary”

Arizona Voting Restrictions have been upheld by Supreme Court

  • Today (Thursday) The Supreme court has upheld Arizona voting provisions and their ruling held that they did not violate the Voting Rights Act 
  • The first voting provision was to cast out ballots that are cast in the wrong precinct and the second restricts third parties from collecting early on mail-in ballots and delivering them to polling places

 Debate in Court over sections of New Georgia Election law

  • Several sections of Georgia’s new election law are criticized by voting integrity activists and they say that it criminalizes normal election observation activities
  • The state’s argument to this criticism is that the provisions are reinforcing previous protection and in order to maintain integrity for elections
