U.S. Navy helicopter crashes near San Diego with 5 missing and 6 injured
On August 31, a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed into the ocean off the Southern California coast near a Navy aircraft carrier, according to military officials
According to a statement from the U.S. Navy’s Pacific fleet, shortly after the crash of the MH-60S helicopter, one sailor was rescued and taken to a hospital in San Diego where he is in “stable condition”
As of September 1, it is noted that 5 others have been injured and another 5 are still missing
California Community colleges report 65,000 applications flagged as fake
Officials from California’s 116 community colleges have found more than 65,000 fake financial aid applications and believe them to be apart of an attempted financial aid scam
According to a report from the LA Times, they found that most of the fake applications were from first time applicants older than 30 and who earned less than $40,000
