• The land originally belonged to two black owners named Willa and Charles Bruce from 1912 to the early 1920s and they ran a resort that catered to black people
• In 1924, the property was seized by the city of Manhattan Beach as they condemned black-owned lots

• According to an announcement from Northern California authorities, a woman was arrested after she was accused of starting a wildfire that has destroyed 144 buildings and promoted many evacuations
