Downtown LA Reopens 101 Freeway Early After Sixth Street Bridge Project 

  • Part of the Hollywood 1010 Freeway (2 ½ miles) in downtown LA reopened this Sunday Morning 5.2.2021 at 8:45 am
  • The bridge needed to be replaced due to seismic vulnerability and deterioration caused by a chemical reaction in the concrete and on Feb. 5, 2016, the Bureau of Engineering began demolition work

SoFi Stadium Concert in Inglewood will mark the return of large-scale events in LA

  • This Sunday (5.2.2021) will be one of the first major in-person events in Los Angeles County since the COVID-19 pandemic forced a pause on such large gatherings
  • The audience will be made up of fully vaccinated healthcare and other essential workers, and they’ll be required to show proof of vaccination, according to the organizers
  • The capacity for this event will be limited to 67% of the venue’s maximum capacity
  • SoFi Stadium has about 70,000 seats and can be expanded to seat 100,000

LA County Experiences lowest positivity rate of COVID-19 cases 

  • LA County has reported 500 new cases of COVID-19 and 29 additional deaths on Saturday (5.2.2021) 
  • The county’s test positivity rate was the the lowest level of the pandemic at 0.6%
  • According to state figures, there were 410 coronavirus patients hospitalized in the county as of Saturday, down from 414 on Friday
  • Saturday’s figures brought the county’s totals to 1,233,488 cases and 23,918 fatalities since the pandemic began
