New overtime Laws for California may hurt the state’s sheep industry

  • New laws for overtime in regards to agricultural workers will be effective January 1, 2022 
  • Those workers in the sheep, goat, and lamb industries have been affected as well and the new law requires that farm owners pay their workers 24 hours a day for the whole week
  • This forces many companies to lay off workers as they have to pay their workers more and reduce the size of their businesses

Sales on Fireworks are beginning soon but it may not be allowed in some areas of California

  • Starting June 28, Firework sales are expected to take off as July 4 is coming up
  • Multiple fire agencies in California are preparing to respond to any firework related incidences 
  • Only part of California’s cities, towns, and neighborhoods are allowing fireworks because of the high wildfire risk

Runaway cows appear in California neighborhood near Los Angeles

  • A meatpacking facility near Los Angeles had accidentally left a gate open and let 40 cows run loose 
  • A little after 7:30 pm yesterday (Tuesday), the cows ran through a few neighborhoods and 1 person was injured during the stampede
  • 1 of the cows has been fatally injured while the 39 others have been safely returned
