Governor Newsom plans to further the Eviction Moratorium and Rental assistance

  • The Eviction ban and rental assistance for California had been previously planned to be effective through September 30
  • Beginning October 1, California tenants would be required to pay their full rent in order to not be evicted but for some tenants, their protections could still be effective through March of 2022
  • Currently, California is leading the cost of funding for their state program concerning back rent which has costed $5.2 billion

New Proposal from Senate Republican on Gas Tax pause for California 

  • As of July 1, the Gas tax will go up to 52 cents and currently, gas prices in California have averaged $4.25 a gallon 
  • Many are suffering because of the high gas prices and Senate Republicans for the state hope to lower prices for 1 year

The word “he” is sought to be removed by lawmakers in California from state laws

  • An Assemblywoman for the state of California named Rebecca Baur-Kahan found that the job requirements for a new attorney assumed the attorney general was a man in many instances
