Large California Drug Bust finds $1.19 billion in marajuana
- Yesterday (Wednesday), Southern California Authorities report that they have taken upwards of 16 tons worth of marijuana at an estimated worth of $1.19 billion
- The bust had begun on the 8th of June last month and there has been a total of 22 felony arrests, 19 arrests from water theft enforcement, and 109 misdemeanor arrests
- In regards to the amount of marijuana plants that were taken by authorities, almost 375,000 plants and 33,480 pounds of harvested marijuana were seized
Salmon are threatened by California drought in Sacramento River
- As a result of the widespread drought throughout Southern and Northern California, the Sacramento River where an endangered salmon species resides is getting too hot
- The endangered salmon species called the Chinook salmon will struggle to survive during the consistently hot temperatures in the Sacramento valley according to predictions from the California Department of Fish
- The Department of Fish is currently making moves to keep the salmon away from the overly warm waters and into Bay Area waters
Lake Tahoe Boat Incident: teen drowns
- A California teenager from Redwood Highschool in Larkspur, California has drowned after falling off a boat on Lake Tahoe over the Fourth of July weekend holiday
- Along with many other teenagers, Myles Kawashima at age 7 was believed to be changing seats when the boat hit a rough wave and was thrown into the water
- The teen was able to be dragged out of the water and receive CPR from authorities but it was unsuccessful and he passed away on the way to the hospital
