Earthquake at California/Nevada Border at 6+ Magnitude

  • At the south point of Lake Tahoe, the Magnitude 6 earthquake affected both sides of the California and Nevada border a little before 4 pm
  • It was reported that boulders had been tossed onto a major roadway (US 395)  near lake Tahoe and people have felt the earthquake from as far as Las Vegas to San Francisco
  • Currently, there has no major damages or injuries that have been reported as a result of the earthquake

Forest Campgrounds in Northern California closed due to excessive heat and wildfires

  • Cabins and Campgrounds have been threatened by the risk of wildfires as Northern California experiences hot and dry weather conditions
  • Near Frenchman Lake, evacuation orders have gone into effect today (Friday) which affects many homes and campgrounds 
  • After a day and night of explosive growth, the fire covered more than 38 square miles at midmorning Friday, causing containment to drop to 11%

California woman dead by Grizzly – Offending Bear killed

  • In the middle of Ovando, Montana, a 65 year old California woman was in her tent when a bear pulled her from her tent and killed her earlier the week on Tuesday Morning
  • Yesterday (Thursday), the male grizzly was shot and killed after officials set a baited trap in hopes of luring the animal back
