Housing market in Austin Texas is seeing mass migrations of former California residents

  • The metro area of Austin, Texas has seen considerable growth by about 180 new residents each day which marks the fastest growing region in 10 years
  • Many Californians are moving to Austin because of the relatively low cost of living especially compared to many cities in California and has lower taxes
  • As a result of this migration boom, Austin’s median home price has risen by 35% just last month in May to $566,562

Bear shot after California resident acted in “self-defense” after an attack in their home

  • Last Thursday, The El Dorado County Sheriff’s office resorts that they had a call about a bear threat in a town named Meyers near Lake Tahoe
  • The resident supposedly shot the bear out of self-defense after it had attacked them inside their home
  • The day after (Friday) the bear was discovered and had been “gravely wounded” according to the sheriff’s office
  • An investigation of the event has determined that there was no criminal activity during the event 

A Drive-by shooting has occurred near a Hooters in Long Beach

  • At around 7:30 pm, a shooting occurred near the Pike Outlets outside a Hooters restaurant where two adults and a teen have been wounded
  • Currently detectives are investigating the shooting as it could be gang-related and 2 have been arrested
