Hiker in Death Valley, California found dead
- A 68-year-old from Tukwila, Washington named Douglas Branham had planned a 12 mile round trip through the salt flats in Death Valley but died during his journey
- On July 28, a California Highway Patrol helicopter found his body about 2 miles from the nearest road where it was 115 at the time
- Officials think that the man may have begun his hike around Sunday or Monday when the temperatures rose to 118 degrees but Inyo County is still investigating the cause of death
