Man charged with starting blaze near Dixie Fire
- According to court documents, a California man named Gary Stephen Maynard has been charged with setting a fire near the Dixie wildfire
- Despite its location near the Dixie Fire, at this point, the man has not been associated with its start on July 13
Vaccine or regular testing to be mandated by California
- On August 11, Governor Gavin Newsom of California has announced that teachers and other school employees must either submit to regular Covid testing or receive the vaccine
- School districts in San Francisco, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland have already implemented the measure which covers a large portion of the state’s 300,000 teachers
California hospitals are now requiring proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test for visitors
- Starting on August 11, all hospitals intermediate care facilities, and skilled nursing facilities will require visitors to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID test
- This public health order was issued on August 5 and applies to all indoor visits and those unvaccinated must test negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to the visit
