New Colorado Bill now allows for retroactivity in Abuse lawsuits up to 1960

  • Lawmakers in Colorado in the House have passed a bill that would allow victims of sexual abuse to hold organization accountable with civil lawsuits dating all the way back to 1960
  • This bill will give victims three years to sue for the alleged abuse that happened up to 1960 and groups that could be sued include organization that hosted youth-related programs

Pennsylvania House finally approves Medical marijuana Law changes

  • The Pennsylvania state house is making more revision to Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana law and is seeking to make permanent changes put in place of the temporary 
  • For this bill, representatives voted 164 to 38 and this permits dispensing a three month supply at a given time (up from 1-month)

New Death penalty law in South Carolina: Court aims to pause

  • A judge in South Carolina has been considering whether to temporarily stop a new law that will force death row prisoners to choose to die by either a firing squad or electric chair
  • Two attorneys in the state (for Brad Sigmon and Freddie Owens who are on death row) argue that the law is unconstitutional because their clients have been sentenced under an older iteration of the law that made lethal injection the default method
